It was a 1.2 mile hike in darkness; with nothing but an iPhone flash to guide the way. We finally made it to the open ground that gave us a good view of the sky in Andrew Molera State Park in Big Sur to see the Perseid meteor shower. Next was the hard part, trying over and over again to capture just one meteor trail. Just when we were about to pack up, this fella flew by!
A little day hike to see Alamere Falls (a rare tidal fall) in Bolinas, CA. Looks like the current drought in CA has taken its toll here.
That is one mean looking rain cloud! Taken at Mono Lake, CA last weekend during sunset.

A rather cloudy sunset at Mono Lake, CA over the weekend. There was a storm brewing in the distance that cast an opening in the sky!
Taken during a weekend trip to Mono Lake, CA. The tufa was a unique sight to see!
Probably one of the best driving experience coming back from Mono Lake. Taken on Tioga Pass, which was closed earlier that day due to snow conditions. Thankfully we were able to drive back before the roads were closed once more.
Taken at the Griffith Observatory, overlooking Los Angeles.
This was an amazing place with views we stayed at in Malibu, California last week. Had to get up early to get a sunrise shot (this was taken before sunrise)!

This was taken on an incredible hike in Thorsmork, Iceland. Along the way we saw lush mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, and petrified rock from past volcanic eruptions.
One of the most known waterfalls in Iceland, but from a different angle! The interesting thing is that Skógafoss (and others) look good in any weather. This was the second image captured here, on the return leg from Vík to Reykjavik. You can find more images like this from my trip to Iceland here: http://www.theaprture.com
Taken on a recent trip, this is the classic view of Skógafoss in Skógar, Iceland. The low clouds and mist from water spray gave it a sense of mystique. You can find more images like this from my trip to Iceland here: http://www.theaprture.com
This amazing waterfall was a stopover while heading towards Landmannalaugar. Being in a very remote area, it is the joining of two rivers, Fossá & Þjórsá.
Beautiful aurora activity near Þingvellir National Park, Iceland.
Scenic view of the Na Pali coastline in Kauai! More pictures from this trip and others here: http://www.theaprture.com
Taken after a very cloudy and rainy day at Mt.Shasta in California. Just as we had almost given up on the weather and began to drive north, the sky cleared giving the surreal view of the volcano. More pics from the trip here: http://www.theaprture.com/#/shasta/
Originally wanted to capture a sunset photo with Karl the Fog, but turned out to be a clear evening sky! The view certainly delivered either way! For more landscape photos: http://www.theaprture.com
The glow of the Milky Way! After always wanting to drive up Mount Hamilton in the Diablo Range, we finally arrived at Lick Observatory on a new moon night! Because of the light pollution from nearby San Jose we'd be losing the galactic center shortly after. What was interesting was that you can even see the Sobranes wildfire in the distance! Higher resolution and more pics like this here: http://www.theaprture.com/#/milky-way/
It was a beautiful sunset walking along the Mazama trail in Mount Rainier National Park. The clouds were covering and clearing the mountain, but we managed to find a good spot and capture this before the view was lost (which happened shortly after!) See more photos like this: http://www.theaprture.com
Another photo during the hike along the Mazama trail at Mount Rainier National Park. Made it just in time for a sunset shot before the clouds completely covered the peak of the mountain! Find more photos like this: http://www.theaprture.com
Flight along the California coastline at Half Moon Bay, via DJI Mavic Pro
Flying downwind along the incredibly tall Redwoods in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in Northern California (near Myers Flat). The view was simply gorgeous, and there was low fog cover in a lot of areas which allowed for some interesting compositional ideas!
